Swell

The time change is killing me, the lack of daylight is making it difficult to take pictures of quilts. This quilt has actually been finished for some time, but I haven't had good weather to take pictures. Blah. I finally found a sliver of sun to get some pictures, before it dived behind a cloud.

Swell comes from the book Simply Retro by Camille Roskelley. Instead of using the 2.5 inch square in the pattern, I changed it to use 5 inch squares. It was great to use up some scraps. I made a quilt following the real Swell pattern too and liked it ... a lot.

Quilt Stats:

  • Finished Size: 57 inches x 57 inches
  • Pattern: Swell
  • Fabric: Assorted prints pulled from scrap bucket
  • Batting: 100% Cotton
  • Thread: Connecting Threads - Parchment

My very picky friend actually like ALL these colors in this quilt, so she finally gets one! Now off to conquer the rest of my WIP list.

Love your simple backing. I'm trying to figure out how to piece the back on mine !

  2. Wonderful, and congratulations on finding a sliver of sun. I know what you mean about this time change being difficult - lack of sunshine is really hard on me. It is super exciting this goes to a friend who will love it. :)

  4. I know what you mean - early morning light is no good for me anymore - i have to take photos around midday so if I'm not home for lunch I have to wait for Saturday and Sunday and hope its not raining! Love the blues and purples in this!

  10. Great quilt and great finish! I know what you mean about the light... it is killer this time of year. Almost makes me want to keep sewing and hibernate until time change again and then photo everything! LoL

  13. Great finish. I hear you about the time change, it's brutal to lose the sun by 5:30pm. Did you change your blog heading, by the way?

  14. Great colours! I just made Swell in the regular size. I might have to upsize and make this one too.
