Christmas in July

After finishing my Joyful Jelly Roll Tree Skirt and the Ho Ho Ho and On We Sew tutorial, I dug out my Christmas quilt top.  This top was finished last fall and I bought the backing, but never finished the quilt. Since it's officially Christmas in July around here I decided this would be a great next finish!

I used the Bizzy Kid pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew in a variety of Christmas fabrics. It was made using the same fabrics as the tree skirt and my stockings. Keeping with the coordinated Christmas decoration theme. The backing is a red dot on white flannel.

Quilt Stats:
Size: 48 inches by 60 inches
Pattern: Bizzy Kid by Cluck Cluck Sew
Fabric: Assorted Christmas fabric
Batting: 80/20 blend
Backing: Flannel
Thread: Connected Threads - 100% Cotton Parchment Thread

Anyone else getting in the festive mood and getting some holiday sewing done? Sometimes it's hard to think that far ahead!

  1. Wooowho! It looks great and now you'll have something perfect for Christmas in July and a bit later this year. :) The flannel backing sounds like it will really come in handy this winter.

  5. I've always loved the Bizzy Kid pattern, but this is the best one I've seen! Maybe I'm just a sucker for Christmas fabric... :D Really love your fabric choices, I always end up getting sucked into the super, super novelty side of holiday fabrics. I might need to finally finish one of the holiday quilts I've started... :D

  7. So festive! You will definitely be ready for Christmas this year. I was all over holiday sewing in July last year but this year I can't seem to get anything done for the holidays, but I guess since I'm working of quilts for presents that sort of qualifies. Love the flannel backing. I'm sure I've asked you this before - do you wash the flannel before you sew it? I'm just wondering if it shrinks a lot more than the cotton front.

  8. So fun! I actually dug my Christmas fabric for last year's Christmas quilt out of the bin this morning. I really like the way you combined the different blocks in the arrangement, congrats on wrapping this up, yay Christmas in July!

  11. I really like your fabric choices (as always) and yet Christmas-themed fabrics do not usually appeal to me. You make them fresh. What a talent.
I will have to keep an eye out for Christmas fabrics like these as I still want to make a tree skirt, but it might not be for THIS Christmas.
