HST: Sashing Debacle

When designing one of my patterns, I had a million HST left over. Ok, not a million but it felt like it and I didn't even have to trim most of them! I took all the colors and laid them out in different patterns to make a HST sampler. There are 16 blocks all together, so it was only 256 HST.

I have seen in the past people using different solids for sashing that is bolder or in contrast to their backing color. I have pulled Kona Silver and Kona Midnight

What do you think? Do you like either of them?  Opinions please!

Not sure I am ready to take the risk, worst case scenario I do have some Kona Snow in my stash.

  1. I like the Midnight better. Or of course Snow. Just depends on how much contrast you want to add.

  2. I think the grey is too subtle of a grey. I'm all for midnight or snow :)

  3. Of the two choices, I like the midnight better. But what about considering a different direction, such as a bold white-on-black polka dot with white cornerstones? Just make sure the print reads mostly dark for good contrast with the blocks.

  4. I like the dark more than the gray. I think a Snow would be beautiful also, just a totally different look.

  5. I think I like the blue. The lighter one is too close to the white, but not quite close enough to look right.

  6. I am agreeing with everyone else that the midnight is the best of these options, but think a snow with cornerstone option could be fun, too!

  7. Midnight would look stunning! The silver doesn't give enough contrast.

  10. Gray and snow are to light. Midmight is better but not great. Black and white pock a dots or strips might give it the punch it needs.

  14. I'd use the darker, it really highlights your blocks. You could use polka dots or stripes for the binding. Love the solids you used!

  15. I wasn't really intending to give advice but having read someone else's idea of using dots above... I like the sound of that one! Beyond that I agree that the grey looks to similar. Hope you love it whatever you go with!
