This weekend I had the opportunity to take a class with Sherri Lynn Wood. The NHMQG took the Bias Strip Curve class from her new book The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters. The class was not only a great way to learn curves but also improv. Two things I have either never tried or wasn't good at. Sherri gave us tons of great ideas on how to improv piece and create. The image above is what I have so far from the class. Hopefully I can get this blocked out into a quilt, but it really pushes my brain power!

Sherri is a fantastic instructor. What you have looks great and it will be fun to see how it evolves for you.
ReplyDeleteI'm not good with improv and have never plucked up the courage to try curves yet. Doing both at the same time might have made my head explode! Looking forward to seeing what you do with these.
ReplyDeleteOooh, these are lovely!
ReplyDeleteAaahhhh, curves! One day I will attempt them. Yours look great! The only improv I've ever done was on the wonky string blocks on a mini recently. I loved it and would like to attempt more. I think it's great you are pushing outside your comfort zone. I can't wait to see what you do with this!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I really like the colours you chose! Can't wait to see how you decide to use them. :-)
ReplyDeleteHoly moly I'm so jealous! I just pinned one of her quilts and have her book only list to buy ... I find improv really aged though and fear curves ... But I so want to try!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome your got to take a class with Sherri, great start to a quilt.
ReplyDeleteLooks great - i can see lots of creativity with these!
ReplyDeleteI had not heard of her until recently, but I just pinned one of her quilts. It is amazing what you have made.
ReplyDeleteShe spoke at our guild meeting a number of months back. I just got her book and look forward to trying out one of her scores. I'm a little intimidated at the thought of improv and *not using a ruler* (gasp!) since I'm such a perfectionist. I figure I'll either love it or hate it. ;-)
