Short quilting interruption ... for SOAP!
Favorite Recipe:
To explain the 10 pounds of soap madness, we are planning on giving them away for Christmas gifts. In equal insanity, I have knit up too many wash cloths to complete the gift. (The string ends still need to be woven in, it's my least favorite part) Pictured is only a small portion of what has actually been completed!
Tomorrow is our last day of school before the holiday break, please pray for my survival!
One weekend in November my sister and I got some 10 pounds of melt and pour soap and got creative. Conveniently, Mom had expanded her herb garden this summer and we had a variety of dried herbs to add to our soap. We got goat, oatmeal, and shea butter for the bases. The oatmeal is my favorite!
Favorite Recipe:
- 1 pound oatmeal melt & pour soap
- 15 drops of lavender essential oil
- 1/8 cup of honey
- 1/4 cup of rolled oats
- Pinch of dried lavender

The soaps look really nice. Praying for your survival! I've been warding off the crazy by taking the kids to the library and trampoline park. It's just a few more days before my husband can take off and provide back-up.
ReplyDeleteCuteness -- and worth the quilting hiatus! A family friend knitted some washcloths for the arrival of son #1, and they were always my favorite. They were more substantial and held more water than the store-bought ones. Happy gifting!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Chelsea! Tomorrow is my last day before break as well~we will make it! Happy Christmas to you and yours...
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful and beautiful gifts. You will put a smile on many faces :)!
ReplyDeleteYour soaps look amazing. I've always wanted to give soapmaking a shot; thanks for sharing your fave recipe!
ReplyDeleteThe soaps look awesome! They will be perfect gifts.
ReplyDeleteOh man, you had me at oatmeal! I am a homemade soap junkie! I don't buy traditional store made soaps, haven't for almost 10 years now. Of course, I've never made my own, that's just crazy talk. There's a soap shop in North Carolina a few blocks from where my parents live where they make it and I always get some when I visit. I also scout out vendors at farmers markets. Oatmeal & honey and Almond are my 2 must-have varieties. You and your sister must have been pretty popular in the gift giving this year. These are awesome gifts. Merry Christmas!
