July Sugar Blocks

This has officially become "All My Favorite Blocks" quilt along as I have stepped away from following the Sugar Block of the Month Club.

But, not too far!

These are my favorite blocks from the 2014 edition. Throughout the year I have been creating some of my favorite blocks to go along with the blocks from the club skipping those I do not love.

Thus far, I am in LOVE with how this quilt is turning out.

Count: 24 blocks out of 30

This is the same color palette from my quote top, so these should become an awesome pair of quilts one day!

My next goal is to stop making huge quilts!  They take so much more effort to finish.

Help: Option A or B?

Cheryl over at Meadow Mist Designs is hosting her Mystery Quilt Along for another year. After seeing how awesome last year's quilt turned out, I decided to join in this time around.

Now, I need your help.  I cannot decide to go with Navy or Pink for my "C" color.

A: Pink Option

B: Navy Option

Which one do you like better?

On the Bandwagon: Flimsy Finish

Ok, confession time.  I am obsessed with the show "Fixer Upper." On the first season of the show Joanna had the quote "Today is a Good Day for a Good Day" cut from metal to put on a clients wall. I wanted it so bad!

Instead of joining along with the same quilt put out by Lella Boutique, with the quote "When Life is Scrappy >>> Make a Quilt." I decided to switch it up with the quote above. The link above goes to the pattern for each letter.

I love Vanessa's stars and arrows, pattern found at Moda Bake Shop, to use as filler between words. I also used a Ohio Star from Moda, a Granny Square, A Thimble Blossoms "Dwell" House, and Heart blocks by Cluck Cluck Sew.

With it being summer vacation and all it was only fitting that every day is a good day :)

Family Shirts: Finished

Summer is officially in full swing! Every year I think how productive I will become with all my free time for sewing {Not happening}. In between summer school and just being plain lazy, I was able to complete my Family Shirts quilt.

A tutorial on how to cut dress shirts into squares.

The quilt is made from shirts of my grandfather, father, and myself. This whole project had an emotional start, but ended up being exactly what I had in mind. Each square finishes at 4 inches, so there are a lot of squares here!

The objective on this quilt is to love it to death. For this reason, I decided to go with completely machine sewing the binding. Anything to make this sentimental goldmine last longer. As for the application of the binding, practice is makes perfect. The whole process is becoming much easier.

The quilt finished is twin sized, so it will look great on a guest bed.
