Help: Option A or B?

Cheryl over at Meadow Mist Designs is hosting her Mystery Quilt Along for another year. After seeing how awesome last year's quilt turned out, I decided to join in this time around. 

Now, I need your help.  I cannot decide to go with Navy or Pink for my "C" color. 

A: Pink Option

B: Navy Option

Which one do you like better?

Outlined Plus is Complete

It's done, it's done! I was able to finish my Outlined Plus quilt over vacation. Celebrating with a little jig over here.

The blocks started as part of the Outline Plus quilt along hosted by Cindy at Hyacinths Quilt Designs. I got hooked and couldn't stop.

Although this winter has been pretty mild here in the Northeast, the day I decided to back this quilt it was a record breaking low. 

So, I used flannel. It creates a nice heavy winter weight to the quilt. 

• Finished Size: 60 inches x 72 inches 

• Pattern: Outlined Plus by Meadow Mist Designs

• Fabric: Small pieces from Stash

• Batting: 80/20 blend

• Thread: Connecting Threads - Lavender

• Quilting: Wavy Lines

Outlined Plus Quilt

Have you heard about the quilt along going on over at Hyacinth Quilt Deigns? 

Cindy is coordinating the quilt along using Meadow Mist Designs Outlined Plus pattern. She's got prizes and other fun stuff happening so it's worth checking out, and maybe even joining the fun. 

Also check out #outlinedplusquilt on Instagram, there has been lots of action on the hashtag. So far here is what I have. 14 blocks puts me at almost half done! 

The remaining pretty little stacks of fabric are sitting by my sewing machine waiting for a snow day so I can finish them up!  Fingers crossed.

Outline Plus Quilt Along

Fabric is pulled, pattern purchased. I am ready to go! Hyacinth Quilt Designs is hosting a quilt along using the Outlined Plus pattern by Meadow Mist Designs. Also check out Instagram, #outlinedplus. For fabric, I actually pulled around two different prints, those geeky glasses and the view finder. Everything else just happened. 

But, enough with pretty pictures. I am dying to start a project. The second half of last year was all about finishing projects and commitments, nothing NEW. My creative side needs something more, it needs to cut this fabric! Let's say I am excited that with my WIPs slightly under control I can explore some other quilts.

Sea Star: Pattern Testing + Giveaway

Back in April Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs put out the call for pattern testers for her new Sea Star Pattern. Last Fall I pattern tested her Looking Glass quilt and LOVED how the quilt turned out. So, of course, I signed up for another. Sea Star is a great combination of a plus block and a star block. Following Cheryl's lead I also chose cool colors in a sea theme. I don't have many baby boy quilts on hand, so this one was perfect. 

Just like last time, this quilt was super quick and fun to make. I got in a couple fights with my ailing iron, but overall it was painless. The quilt consists of squares and HST, nothing difficult but a new design anyone can try out! I was able to get the whole top done in one day of sewing. The backing, quilting, and binding was another day. To me her quilts are great projects that offer more pizzaz than basic squares, but are equally as easy and have have such design flair. I really have enjoyed each and every quilt I have made using Meadow Mist patterns.

In the pattern the baby quilt is square, but I went with a 3 by 4 block arrangement to make the quilt rectangular. I like the final size of the quilt.

Giveaway Day

Looking Glass - I was part of the testing for this pattern, and fell in love. It's a great pattern, with well written directions and is good for beginners that want more pizzaz. The quilt has multiple sizes and is layer cake and charm pack friendly.

Paper Pieced Numbers - how awesome is a pi quilt!  Ok, maybe my math teacher geeky side is coming out but really, it's great. The pattern has 3", 5", 7" sizes for numbers 0 - 9. An added bonus is directions to make the pi quilt shown.

Scrappy Tiles - is another layer cake friendly pattern. Right now I have a pile of pieces cut and ready to get sewn, but my holiday sewing is getting in the way! The pattern is also well written and a great way to use up some of your scraps.

Looking Glass Tester

Cheryl over at Meadow Mist Designs asked for testers on one of her latest patterns. Of course, I volunteered. The pattern is called Looking Glass and will be up for sale on her Craftsy site. 

Here are some things I loved about this pattern ... 

• Quick and easy to assemble,
• The whole top was constructed in one afternoon,
• The directions are for both charm squares and layer cakes,
• Directions for a variety of sizes (baby, lap, twin, and queen), 
• Super easy to chain piece, 
• You do not have to stop and iron frequently,
• Great way to use up pre-cuts with no plans. 

For mine, I had a bunch of layer cakes with no purpose just hanging around so I settled on on Honeysweet by Fig Tree. The quilt is lap sized and required 30 squares in total, plus 1.5 yards for backing (Kona Snow). The remaining squares will get pieced into the backing. So far I really like my choice in fabrics :) Now I just need to find a backing and a binding so I can finish this one!
