Quilting for Some Small Friends

One of my friends recently let me watch her kids, and as payment she got me a gift card, so I used it to buy some fabric and make her kids quilts. Sneaky way of not accepting payment, bahahahaha. Today the kids came over to check out their new quilts. Verdict - they love them!

Here is the quilt for Little Miss, and below the quilt for Little Mister. Both are made from HSTs but different designs.

Each quilt is backed in white flannel that has light blue polka dots to make them super warm and snuggly. The left quilt got straight line quilting a quarter inch from each seam, and the right quilt got an all over double loop pattern.

Little Miss definitely loved her quilt!

  1. What a caring friend you are, and your quilts are adorable. I especially love the 'Little Miss' one and think it would be great for one of our 6 great granddaughters, Since it's just HST's, it will be fun to do, and I love pinwheels, so a no brainer. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us. lv2bquilting2@comcast.net

  5. That sounds like the perfect way to receive and regift payment! What else would you buy with unexpected money anyway?! The quilts are so sweet and obviously well received!

  6. Both are very cute quilts! Do you prewash the flannel before you use it? I guess I should find out if you prewash your regular quilting cottons as well.

  7. Eep -- these are sweet! I especially love the pieced binding on both quilts and the farmyard print you used as a background in Little Mister's quilt. : )

  8. These are the cutest quilts. I love how sneaky you are, I should probably tell my friends and family that if they pay me in fabric shop gift cards they're more likely to get quilts sooner but then I'd probably get too many gift cards :) Litte Miss' quilt is probably my favorite cause those colors resonate with me so much. I can never get enough of vibrant colors on white with splashes of a dark black: a fave!

  12. Both are very nice quilts and the designs do seem so suited to a girl with the pinwheels and a boy with those flying geese. Lovely quilting on each! Snuggle time!
