First Retreat + Updates

Ok, things have been happening around here but I haven't had time to blog! Let's start with last week I got last minute tickets to a Miranda Lambert Concert. Yep, pit pass, no zoom. We were that close!  Great time with my two best friends. Miranda puts on one good show. Then I got sick, so not much sewing has happened, until ...

This weekend was my first quilting retreat. It was nothing like I expected, these girls know how to have fun. No joke! Amongst all the excitement, nonsense, and shenanigans, I was able to get a couple things done. One is this flimsy finish of a churn dash quilt made from Fresh Cut designed by Basic Grey for Moda. It used one layer cake, one charm pack, two fat quarters, and one night. I just love this line of fabric. This one is going to stay with me!

So, the story that goes with this quilt top, was the Friday we arrive to retreat Michelle @ From Bolt to Beauty and I drive up together. We set up our sewing areas, sew for a bit then head out for dinner to come back and get some some more sewing done. At this point I did finish my Aunt's back, but  I needed to feel more productive. After all, it was the first night and I only had one thing done. Most people go to bed, and I stay up. The next morning, everyone wakes up and this quilt is on the design wall done. Second finish of day, done. Let's just say the rest of the weekend wasn't as productive, but hey, it started off strong!

The block above is my favorite from the bunch and conveniently that gray is the same fabric I bought for binding. Now I just need to decide on a back. I also got my Aunt's backing done, and started my Patchwork City quilt. Then was introduced to a fabulous place called Mardens. They got a delivery from a modern quilt shop that went out of business, let's say at $4.99 for a (generous) yard for fabric made me go a little crazy. More on all that later, right now I just need to recover.
