New Hampshire MQG

Big news, I finally joined a quilt guild!!!!!!  (New Hampshire Modern Quilt Guild) Being naturally shy around new people it was kinda (ok, very) nerve wracking! Although everyone there was super nice and very welcoming, they really went out of their way to introduce me to the group. I am slightly ashamed at myself for not joining sooner!

Here are some blocks I put together for the guild's charity blanket. All the fabric was donated by Hawthorne Threads, how very nice of them to help the cause!  The tutorial is Scrappy X & + from Badskirt.

  1. I haven't joined a local guild, either, for many of the same reasons. I think I would fit best in a local MQG chapter, and since the closest is over an hour commute away, I use that as another big reason to not join. I am so glad to hear that they were friendly, warm, and welcoming. :) Your blocks for the charity quilt are great, and I hope you really enjoy your membership!

  4. I've been meaning to join my local quilt guild but haven't gotten around to it yet. The modern guild in our city meets at 1pm in the afternoon 40 minutes away so there's no way I could ever attend a single meeting. The other guild meets the first Monday of every month in the evening (tonight as a matter of fact) but I've been too busy lately. I went to one of their meetings to learn more and intend to go back but it just hasn't happened yet. Maybe once school starts up.

  5. Congrats on joining the NH Modern Quilt Guild! I just joined the Boston Modern Guild last year and it has been great fun and so inspiring!

  7. Congrats on joining a guild. I joined a traditional guild and a modern guild about 2 years ago, it is wonderful to be able to hang out with some wonderful quilty people.

  8. I'd love to join and attend the meetings but having them so far away in Portsmouth is tough for me. That's a really long drive. Have fun though!

  9. Our local quilting association has an amazing charity program too (the coordinator is a gem), but to have a sponsor like Hawthorne Threads helping out must be brilliant!
